The Happiest Sheep on the Block - or Something Like That...

Before Benji was born, my sister gave us a bunch of great books to read.  Natually, Mike threw up his hands and demanded to know which of the books was the "best", since he claimed his time was far too valuable to waste on reading them all and would only have time to read one.  The lucky tome nominated for his attention was Karp's The Happiest Baby on the Block, the central tenets of which are basically swaddling and white noise.  It turns out that Benji would rather dislocate both of his shoulders than allow his arms to be swaddled, so we ended up with a drawer full of unused Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe swaddlers, but Karp's other hobbyhorse, the white noise generator worked out rather better, in the form of the infamous Sleep Sheep This little gadget really does the job in helping the little one go to sleep, and it has become a staple of our new baby gift bags, but I have to confess to one side effect - the ocean and rushing water sounds tend to casue mommy to make a few extra trips to the washroom.
